The last thing you remember is dying. Whether it's by murder or execution, that's was all it. But surprisingly enough, you wake up in the hotel room that you were assigned in, as if you had never died to begin with. However, once you walk right outside, you'll start noticing that while this is the Town A you remember, there are some slight differences that you notice.

The first thing is the fact that while you can see those who are still alive, they simply cannot see you. In fact, they pass through you, as if you were a ghost. And spoilers: you kind of are one, now. The second thing is that sometimes, if you look at a building for too long or too closely, you'll notice that it fizzles a bit, almost glitchy.

But that's completely fine, isn't it? There is, however, one more thing to keep in mind: there are voices of other people, mumuring. Of course, these other people, unlike you, don't have a complete shape; they're just a silhouette of themselves, looking like static.

However: it wouldn't be Town A without an announcement, would it? Of course not. Hence why upon rearriving, there will be a message, typed out:

Welcome to the afterlife, everyone. This is a greeting message to introduce you to how exactly this works. You have the ability to send one message to the living a week, so choose your words wisely. Of course, there are limitations to what you can say! You cannot reveal the mastermind's true identity, even if you know it. You cannot reveal a culprit or a victim, even if you know it.

Also, all messages will be sent to all players during the trials. If there is no trial, the message shall be sent on Saturday. You may investigate as you wish. If you have any questions to ask of me, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

[She purses her lips briefly. At least Hinata hadn't been overtly patronizing.]

I was a little preoccupied. [The words are said with some forced sweetness. Not that she legitimately thinks anyone in the room is going to be charmed by it; it's simply the tone she defaults to when she is Trying To Stay Cool.]

But if the implication you're getting at is that they're a magical being from a previous round of the murder games... I suppose that doesn't rule her out. [Zange, she means.]

[A beat.] Miss One seemed to think the hunter had the ability to read minds though.

[zackthekiller]

[Zack trails close behind, feeling a bit jealous of how wonderful her world must have been.]

Lucky you! I had to put up with assholes and murderous lunatics all my life! No griffons, no pegasi, no pokemon- Normal animals in a fucked up world.

Tch! If I get stuck here, I don't think I'll really miss anything from there...

[Well, almost anything.]

[A pause. She isn't glaring at him exactly, but there's a defiant look in her eyes.]

It certainly wasn't how I expected to die.

[If anything, it'd have been the gallows, but even that had seemed nonapplicable to her. After all, she was always just one step ahead of the fools around her. Or so she thought. Rather bitterly she continues:]

But I suppose that's what almost everyone says.

[Why are you acting so cheery?]

No problem. We had to do something to keep everyone focused. Dunno if Recette will keep up now or what...

[He is just getting this sinking feeling that who is left will just... Yeah. Even though two of his friends are survivors.]

The song? ... but fair enough, all the same I'm grateful for your aid. [She bows her head, looking to Hinata briefly before she speaks again.]

I'm called Lucina. We could search the North portion of the town. I know a few of the others went south.

[There's a pause as she looks at him. Faint memories of cities in ruin drift before her mind's eye.]

...I wouldn't call it lucky. I apologize for not clarifying myself. Animals were what was ...mostly all that was left.

[It's a little uncomfortable to admit that. Every death felt like a failure to protect...something dear to her. She can't remember the rest. Lucina walks through the door.]

Other than the risen dead.

[Thanks. Now he's reminded of the girl whose promise he'll no longer keep. FUCK.]

[Woah, hello. Girl just walked through the door! How?!]

[He tries to grip the doorknob like a normal person and, oh, right. Fucking ghosts phase through things. He groans and goes through the door himself.]

[She just leans quietly against his shoulder. She's kind of...all cried out for now.] Yeah...fuck whoever started this whole thing in the first place.

[Zack is not gonna question who taught her such foul language. He is a horrible influence, after all.]

[He's gonna accept that hug though.]

I'm still kind of glad I can talk to you again... [She might actually...just fall asleep on him or something. This week has been exhausting.]

From experience, yeah, that's usually how it goes.

[If someone told him how any of his deaths went, he would've probably just stared at them.

He feels like should say more, but what? Saying she didn't deserve that's pointless because it happened, it doesn't matter what anyone deserved. Saying they'll hopefully catch the murderer's no good either since it doesn't do them any good. And he's still not sure how he feels about some of the things she said earlier, so he's got nothing here.]

[Zack nods... And...]

[Well, now we have a tiny cuddle pile sleeping on the floor.]

[Ah, bookends. Zack was the first person alive to discover he can talk to the dead here while he was upset, and now he's meeting a new dead person here while he was more upset.]

[The irony is kind of killing him more inside as he looks up at the static woman.]

Waiting for one of the survivors to come up here. What the hell are you doing here?

[Another moment passes and for a second she just looks tired, but that smooths over into more straightforward/cooler demeanor.]

What was the last thing you saw before you died?

[Revenge, after all, is pretty much the only thing that really matters anymore.]

[She'll run her hand through her hair for a moment, considering her response.]

Trying to get some peace and quiet, or at least I was.

[Wow.]

It's been harder and harder to do that lately.

I assume you are aware of just how many weapons were in there. Comparing cuts with those weapons would be like locating a needle in a haystack. Our time was rather limited.

[It's an excuse, unfortunately, but Szayel really does think that there are much better ways of narrowing things down.]

I had a few more days to consider the evidence than Dahlia did, and after my own encounter with the hunter I find the amount of coincidences too great to ignore.

[He looks to Dahlia again.]

The hunter is apparently not one of us—supported by the fact that we were not called to trial for any of their kills—but someone we have seen before. The slayings began when the barrier went down. If you may recall, someone from outside our group was very intent on piercing the barrier to get through to us. Intriguing that despite that being a reality now, she has been suspiciously silent, wouldn't you say?

[She should probably have extended some platitude before diving right into that, but if Kaine's going to object everytime she does now, she doesn't see the point.]

You didn't hear anyone approach, I take it.

Yeah.

[Not exactly the most dignified death for a superhero, but also somehow far from the worst.]

Even if I had, I wouldn't have thought much of it. There wasn't a motive, and nobody tried anything earlier, so it wouldn't have made sense for someone to attack me over it weeks later.
