The last thing you remember is dying. Whether it's by murder or execution, that's was all it. But surprisingly enough, you wake up in the hotel room that you were assigned in, as if you had never died to begin with. However, once you walk right outside, you'll start noticing that while this is the Town A you remember, there are some slight differences that you notice.

The first thing is the fact that while you can see those who are still alive, they simply cannot see you. In fact, they pass through you, as if you were a ghost. And spoilers: you kind of are one, now. The second thing is that sometimes, if you look at a building for too long or too closely, you'll notice that it fizzles a bit, almost glitchy.

But that's completely fine, isn't it? There is, however, one more thing to keep in mind: there are voices of other people, mumuring. Of course, these other people, unlike you, don't have a complete shape; they're just a silhouette of themselves, looking like static.

However: it wouldn't be Town A without an announcement, would it? Of course not. Hence why upon rearriving, there will be a message, typed out:

Welcome to the afterlife, everyone. This is a greeting message to introduce you to how exactly this works. You have the ability to send one message to the living a week, so choose your words wisely. Of course, there are limitations to what you can say! You cannot reveal the mastermind's true identity, even if you know it. You cannot reveal a culprit or a victim, even if you know it.

Also, all messages will be sent to all players during the trials. If there is no trial, the message shall be sent on Saturday. You may investigate as you wish. If you have any questions to ask of me, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

[When Eruna wakes up, it takes a while for her to move: not because she can't, but due to shock from what had happened. She places a hand over her chest, where the knife had gone through, but now she doesn't feel anything.

As she sits up, she also quickly discovers that her hair is still hanging down, no longer tied up at the moment.

... Well, that kind of puts the "just a dream" theory in question.

Regardless, Eruna sprints out of her room quickly, looking around for any sign of someone nearby.]

Hello? Are you guys still here, or did everyone leave already?

There is indeed someone still here. But if you'd like to talk, we should probably do it elsewhere. People might be coming to this room very soon.

[Eliza...stares when she sees Eruna-as-a-ghost. And then she's rushing forwards while sobbing.] I-I didn't mean it!

[She's on her way down from the third floor--or maybe the roof--when she runs into Eruna out in the hallway.

Of course no one living would be around here now. Most people will be outside, looking to solve, well. This murder. Not that she cares much about that. That's one area in which she'd have no real desire to offer her assistance. Not after everything that happened.

Her greeting is probably the best thing she can offer to someone newly-murdered:]

You honestly surprised me. I thought for sure you'd be the one to kill over that girl from those photos.

TRIAL FIVE

[ Belated, but here's a toplevel for your trial spectating. ]

[And for once, we get an early confession.]

I'm going to hit him when he gets here.

[When he wakes up, he's not sure what to think. His... execution has him on edge and waking up in his room is just not right. One thing is for sure-- he needs to find Estelle. So he's up and running out of his room and the lobby. He sees people he recognizes and--]

Hey, can you tell me what's going on?

[His persona is his usual and calm one, but it's clear that he's a bit panicked. When he's not getting a response, that cool persona of his starts to break a little more. And when he's being phased through like a ghost, well... that just makes things clear and yet more confusing at the same time...]

Shit...

[His first instinct is to check the dollhouse, but even that place isn't right the more he stares at it. Nothing is right.

Maybe this is Gehenna, but he deserves it after all that he's done.]

[Well, Joshua, do you hear that sound of running feet behind you, while you're walking around? Do you hear that scream getting louder and louder? That's the sound of Eliza, transformed and very angry. She's got one fist raised, and as soon as she gets close enough, she's going to lunge and try to punch him in the back.]

Monday Morning

[It's the start of a brand new day! ..wait, that's not right. Kaine doesn't remember going to sleep, in fact...

Well, we'll skip over all that, thinking about that because then this tag would just be a ton of angry cursing from inside the inn. And kicking things in his room, but not really making an impact on them because of course he's not. He can't even throw a whole tantrum anymore, isn't that great.

So after all that mess, maybe later in the morning, he'll have moved from denial and skipped his way into acceptance, just wandering around over at the park, looking glum, and trying to figure out what his next move should be.]

[Eliza's at the park! And hanging out in a tree, apparently. She's actually looking pretty pleased with herself at being able to make it up there.

So, got anything to say to one of the girls you killed, Kaine?]

Monday afternoon, Dojo [calling all ghosts]

[It had been a busy and awful morning. It feels unreal and for the long dead, it's such a break from the pattern. A message is sent through the ghost network.]

Hey, come to the Dojo. I have messages to pass on.
Don't ignore this, it's important. - Hinata Hajime.

[When people arrive they'll find him waiting at the center of the room. To newcomers, he looks like some tall, average kid with an unusual spike of hair and a serious expression. Some of the staticy ghosts have already arrived. The girl with the sword at her side, waits by the entrance. Another girl in a robe pulls the hood up over her face, making her look almost like you could see her features. Almost.

Hinata waits until everyone has arrived and beckons everyone close.]

Thank you for coming. I'll get straight to it. Don't go past where the barrier was. You'll die.

[The hooded girl calls out, 'Excuse me, I believe you might want to be more specific than that. We're all already dead or had you forgotten?' He directs a flat stare her way and briskly continues.] You'll be obliterated for good.

In the same vein, don't use mana if you can help it. Moving around like this is fine. But trying to affect the physical world is taking a toll on the mana in you and what is available to sustain the town. It has less to draw on with the keys being used to open rooms.

Zange can't send any more letters. We'll have to find another way to talk.

Um...so you can possess your objects, right? But does that take more mana than the snack thing? [She mimes picking up and dropping things, just to make it clear what she's talking about.]

[One's been sitting seiza-style at the corner of this meeting in silence for a bit. Despite her willingness to let Zange exorcise her just a few weeks ago, she's determined not to dissolve into nothing until at least this work is done.]

I'd been trying to participate as little as possible in those horrendous charade games to avoid this. [She sounds a little contemptuous but changes the subject quickly.]

Enlighten me. Anyone who knows. The technology in this town...the television, those loathsome little "games," is it all the same? Mana as well?

The technology was brought in. It's not made of Mana, [Hinata says as he leans slightly glancing to the girl with a sword. She stirs and her hand falls to where the hilt would have been before she remembers. She speaks as quietly as he had.]

The town is made of mana and the barrier. The ten rooms...I am not my mother who could tell you easily how magic moved but, I know enough. We were the source powering the town against our will. Some of us are free now...probably too many.

Tuesday

[His memories are fuzzy and blurry, indistinct, but Taiki can recall the pink and white blur he saw before- before-

A flash of pain and then too much nothing and Taiki wakes up with a loud shout that echoes in... his room at the inn?]

Wha... [He raises shaking hands to his neck. It doesn't hurt but he can remember the flash of pain, and he keeps having to touch the skin there to remind himself it isn't cut.] What... [For better or worse, all he can remember is the pain of the incision - and not the decapitation itself.

For a long time, Taiki will sit there trembling on his bed, fingers pressing into his neck unsteadily. Perhaps that's how you'll find him, or maybe it will be after he's read the message and realized that he is, in fact, dead.

Later still, he'll wander out of the inn and you might run into him here instead. Taiki may not know what his destination is, exactly, but he'll explore the town to find something, anything that he can do.

He might be dead, but he's not going to leave the living to fend for themselves if he can find some way to help.]

You're finally awake.

[The voice that speaks inside of his room is Zange's, who is sitting on the corner of the bed with one leg crossed over the other. Her voice is listless, almost melancholic, but it's there.]

I should say good morning, but it honestly isn't one.

wednesday

[Dahlia opens her eyes, and after a moment of disorientation and confusion, she screams. Fuzzy or not, getting ambushed in the changing room and nearly getting bisected is a memory nobody wants to dwell on. It takes a long moment before feeling like she might throw up passes, but when it does, it's all too clear what she has to do.

She's never been a stranger to the concept of spirits and ghosts - never feared dying because she knew she'd never truly die, and this world is evidently no different. So now that her ties to the physical world have been forcibly severed, there's exactly one thing that she cares about. Predictably that thing is revenge for herself and the rest of Town A can go up in flames for all she cares.

Mind set, she leaves her room at the Inn and goes out to see what she can see in this new hellhole. Pointedly she's no longer bothering with social smiles.]

[Someone is waiting for her in the hall. He's tall, short haired and his expression is just as unhappy as hers.]

Hey.

Since you carried my notebook, I thought I'd come see you when you manifested. [He could never call it waking up. That made it sound normal.] We can still make a difference on this side. If you want to.

Thursday

[...well then. Edna wakes up in her room and at first it feels like everything's the same. Or more precisely that the last few hours were a dream. The Observatory is far behind her-- it's like she was never there. But she knew better. She'd fought for her life but it wasn't enough. The proof was in the way the view around her glitches every so often.

She wanders from her room and slowly begins to walk through the town. If she's honest, she's looking for the others... at least... the ones that she might be able to see now. The others...
she's not sure how much she can do for them now.

Eventually she also takes a look in the observatory.

...that sure is her own body. But all she says is--] They really smashed it good, didn't they?

[She's upset about the guitar more than herself. Although... she's frustrated.]

Even though I said I'd try to make it...

It's too bad you didn't.

[Well, Zange didn't want to come here, but she's here anyway. Not like she has anything to do outside of the meetings and the whole border thing.]

I was honestly hoping that you'd help end this game for good.

Border Patrol! (Thursday)

[Eliza finally remembers what she planned to do last week. So even with all the death happening around her...they'd better get to it. She promised in her letter, after all. So, she'll send out a mass text to the ghosts.]

Hey everyone! I promised to look for the locations for the ritual in my last letter, and even though everything's kind of messed up now I thought I should get started on that! I'll be at the steel tower if anyone wants to join me!

[She will be waiting there for a while, first for anyone who responds to the text and then for about ten minutes after that.]

[It's late, but it's not late enough that Inaba wants to go to sleep. Rather, she can't. Well... technically she can still sleep like a normal human person can, but it's hard. Too hard.]

[Standing at the edge of the barrier Hinata doesn't respond. He walks along the still safe portion. He knows what to look for. He will have to make it known later.

Right now...He finally turns to regard her with his red eyes.] We have little time.

Friday

[You know how the very first thing listed under Szayel's dislikes is "losing"?

The reason for that will become very apparent for those who happen to be around the Inn to bear witness to a lot of crashes and shitloads of expletives being thrown around behind the door to Room 8.

It seems that swiftly losing a fight and dying a slow and rather agonizing death on the floor of the morgue struck a bit of a chord with Szayelaporro Granz, someone who previously viewed death as something that would never reach him. It doesn't take him very long to tire himself out due to how things work on this side though, and all he manages to do is knock some things over in that once immaculate room of his.

Great.

It takes a while, but he eventually emerges from his room to do what he has always done when something new presents itself: investigate. As much as he doesn't want to be on this side, he knows that he needs to get himself up to speed because no matter which side, there's work to be done. Maybe...approach him carefully if you plan to though, because he looks more angry than he ever has in the past.]

You're quite the angry one, aren't you?

[The ghost who replies to him is one he'll recognize by voice. It's June. Of course, she has no means of identification outside of her general shape, being completely static from head to toe. Although you can at least tell by her outline that she's wearing a dress and has her hair tied up in a scrunchie.]

I suppose it's... a pleasure to meet you properly, regardless of the circumstances. Dire as they are.

SATURDAY

[zackthekiller]

[Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK.]

[He was THIS CLOSE to killing that hunter, or at the very least getting out alive. BUT NO!]

[He bursts out of his room in a murderous rage, screaming profanities as he reaches out for something- ANYTHING to destroy. Especially the fuzzy static people wandering about. He's clearly out for blood... Too bad he's a ghost now.]

[After a few minutes, moments perhaps, Zack collapses in the hallway, completely exhausted. Revenge... He wants his revenge. He wants to get out of here. He really wants to see Ray's dull eyes or Eddie's smug masked face or SOMETHING. He's so upset... He's nearly whimpering.]

You know, there's a bit of a satisfaction, seeing you dead.

[She had to get that one in. She really did.] But then again, that satisfaction can only last for so long.

SUNDAY- Steel Tower

[Yeah, Zack's gotten over his own death... Sort of. He's still really pissed off at his predicament. Can't tell anyone about Zange, can't say who really killed Eliza... Hell, he can't even touch anything without going through it.]

[Fuck it. He's going to hang out at the steel tower again. Death be damned! If he can at least get one person who isn't Zange to hear him speak, that would be great!]

[He's not sure if this is gonna work, with his death being relatively recent, but he's stubborn. Wanna come bother him?]

[The greeting is coming from... unfortunately, not one of the living, but from Eruna, who spotted him here at the tower.]

Do you mind if I join you here?

SUNDAY (Morgue; Rose hunting)

[Of all the places to spend time in, why the morgue? Despite finding company like Szayel and Miach's more agreeable than not, she still finds this trait bizarre. She turns to Szayel as the enter the hospital morgue:]

If Rose isn't here, Mr Hinata suggested checking by the nurse's station.

[Szayel can't say he expected this to end up being a trait either...the trait of even hanging out with people to begin with, that is.

It's a little awkward to be here after meeting his end in this very place but it's also not going to stop him from carrying out investigations, especially when this ritual is pretty crucial.]

Rather interesting to know that someone has been around this place the entire time. I wonder what she witnessed while we weren't here...

[Did she get to watch him bleed out down here? ...look, there have been more morbid inquiries, right? There is one mystery in particular that he's curious about...but they're here on other business.]

Week Seven All-Purpose

[Maybe she should be angry that the trial that condemned her to this hell is going to be a spectacle again. But One seems...amused when she hears the news.
She'll be at the police station today.]

Is that so? Oh, it's a fitting end to this play. [One chuckles, covering her mouth.] I wonder if they've learned as the rest of us have.

[She seems a little less stable than she has before. Not outwardly, maybe, but the desire for justice has crept into her demeanor more insidiously. One can feel the power of her song again like a time bomb. Reassuring, as it's all she's ever known, and a better impetus than any to get out of here, but practically useless in these circumstances.]

[Early today, she can be found in the library. Trying to condense her energy and mana, especially with the issue of her powers to think about now, she's unable to dig in too deep--or at all. But she's browsing, her fingertips close, but not touching the shelving. Even if she had working fingers, they'd be just out of reach.

That ghost had called a place in this area "wretched." She had seemed too well-read to curse a library so, but still. It's time to find some inventive ways to enjoy a library when you can't partake of worldly pleasures anymore.]

[Don't mind Heather, she just figured she'd make conversation while hanging around the police station. Not exactly her favorite place in town, but it beats the hospital. Fuck that place.]

Monday, Ghost Network

[Eliza flinches when she hears about the news that they'll have to go through her trial again. It seems no one suspected Kaine, despite him getting the most votes apart from One. So she'll end up sending a text over the network in a semi-panic.]

We can't let them fail this! Do you think there's some way to give hints without actually breaking the rules? There's a bunch of books in that library, right? Maybe we could signal something that way!

[Holy crap the phone still works in death.]

Bothering Zange at the Church on Tuesday

[Zack does not care for the church. It's creepy, it's weird, and he's pretty sure it's reminding him of all the religious references thrown around at home. Including that weird, hallucinogen-making priest, Gray.]

[But here is that jerk Zange, and she is praying. She can be bothered without him wasting mana!]

[Zack walks over in front of Zange,
hoping to divert her attention away from the entrance and hopefully make her look crazy.]

Heeeey, Zange. You're a fucking goddess. Why the hell are you praying to another god?

[Thankfully, nobody's showed up just yet and while the creepiest thing about the church is that there's a coffin at the altar. Nevertheless, Zange isn't going to speak. All she does is shake her head in a silent don't you fucking dare.]

Monday- Steel Tower

[Zack kind of fell asleep at the Steel tower the day before. He was waiting patiently for someone, anyone to talk to him, but waiting isn't one of the things he's good at, and he can't do anything without passing out or worse, so...]

[He does wake up to the sound of Recette's voice. She's there, and so is one of the static ghost people. Now's his chance!]

Hey! Hey, Recette! It's me Zack!

I'm up here with you!

[Can she hear him...?]

She can't hear you I'm afraid. But I can pass things on to her. [The robed girl sitting up with him smiles just a little.]

It seems only the dead from previous rounds can directly talk to them. Well, what would you like me to say?

Thursday afternoon, Dojo

[A call for a meeting is sent through the network politely asking for everyone to gather in the dojo again. Hinata had signed his name at the bottom. When people arrive they'll find him in the center again, talking quietly to the girl with the sword. He breaks away from the talk to face everyone and nods once.

The exhaustion from before seems mostly gone. He even greets everyone with a little bit of good humor.]

There's a lot of us now. Sorry I didn't greet all of you. I'm Hinata Hajime. All of the marks are down, and I've been caught up on how things are progressing with that.

I thought we could go back over anything anyone is confused by and close out with anything else that comes up. What do you think?

Yeah... Blame Snow White and her fucking axe/spear for that.

[He grumbles a bit before coming forward with his findings.]

So... Zange went and sealed up all the impurity in the coffin at the church...

... Then it somehow turned into this weird tengu boy and escaped. I am not making this up. Dahlia and I both talked to him.

He didn't really do much. Lind of reminded me of someone from home, only grouchier.

Post-Meeting: DOLLHOUSE RAID

[Shortly after the meeting, Zack tells everyone he's going to the dollhouse to see if the hostages are in there. Hopefully, the doors aren't ghost-proof, and if they are they can probably just go through the walls right?]

[Anyone can join him if they want to see if their loved ones are still in there. Alive. Not dolls or anything.]

[He phases through the front door and makes a beeline to the locked entrance in the back... He hesitates, grimacing, his mind reeling and his heart racing...]

[He reaches out to the door...]

Eliza is here too

[Eliza is standing beside him, looking nervous.] I hope everyone in there is okay...

FINAL TRIAL
